Manatee Circle

The fun begins as soon as you step foot through the Zoo’s Main Entrance! Visit the Main Free-Flight Aviary just inside, or splash around in the Manatee Fountains. You can also grab a bite to eat at Macaw’s Landing, check out the fun photos taken by our Zootastic photographers, symbolically adopt an animal at Nature’s Kingdom Gift Shop, or simply continue on your adventure to one of our 5 realms.

The Canopy Aviary

This large, free-flight aviary is located at the front of the Zoo in Manatee Circle, where you can get up close with several species of birds.

Don't look down or you might miss our famous Macaw Flyover! Guests will see our flock of colorful macaws as they fly over the entrance, around Manatee Circle, stopping for a photo op, and then heading back up the path into the Florida realm. It’s an experience you won’t forget!

David A. Straz, Jr. Manatee Critical Care Center

The Zoo’s David A. Straz, Jr. Manatee Critical Care Center is the first non-profit, acute care facility of its kind specifically dedicated to critical care for wild manatees, and one of just four contracted federally permitted manatee rehabilitation centers in the US.

Since 1991, the manatee care and veterinary team have treated over 500 manatees with the majority reintroduced back to Florida waters.

The Year of More continues with two new wildlife encounters focused on Florida’s iconic species.

Guests can visit Manatee Cove, located near Florida Wilds to enjoy underwater viewing monitors and meet the Manatee Rescue Team who inspiringly focus on saving injured, sick, and orphaned manatees. The Manatee Overlook experience, near Stingray Shores, will feature live chats and educational presentations on conservation action to help these amazing animals. Manatee Mangrove tunnel is closed due to construction. You can enter Florida near the Carousel by Roaring Springs, or near the entrance past Asia. Guests will have to turn around once they reach construction. For walking directions to your favorite locations and habitats, download our mobile app!

Follow Zoo Boulevard from the Zoo’s Main Entrance to the Carousel Circle where you can ride the The Carousel—included in your admission, grab a sweet treat or hot dog, play games & win prizes, all before you continue on to Wallaroo, Africa, or Roaring Springs.

Expanded splash pad and play areas: The Billabong Splash Pad, made possible by Bank of America, features new water elements offering more opportunities for guests of all ages to cool off in the Florida sun!
New bar: Boomerang Bar will have guests coming back again and again for refreshing cocktails and beverages.
Remodeled restaurant: The Outpost Grab & Go Market is the perfect place for guests to get a quick bite to eat while in the land down under.
New family restroom: The Lil’ Joey’s Family Stop, presented by Muma Children’s Hospital at TGH, provides parents and nursing moms a private place to tend to small children.
